Regional Marketing Manager & Senior Associate Publisher

Bonnie Wang earned her PhD from Université Paul Sabatier in France. She joined MDPI in February 2017 as an Assistant Editor for IJERPH, Horticulture, and Challenges. Subsequently, she served as Managing Editor for several journals, including IJERPH, Nursing Reports, Tomography, and SIUJ. Additionally, she demonstrated strong leadership skills as a Section Leader, supervising a global team of more than 100 individuals. Since August 2021, she has been working as a Publisher. In October 2024, she was appointed as the Regional Marketing Manager for the North America region, overseeing marketing activities, organizing events, and developing and maintaining relationships with our North American stakeholders.

Journal Relations Manager

Karen Irwin-Dennis is the Journal Relations Manager for  MDPI North America. She joined  MDPI in 2021 as an Assistant Editor and later served as co-Managing Editor of Current Oncology. In 2022, she transitioned into her current role, supporting journals such as Current Oncology, Sclerosis, and Complications. Karen has worked closely with  MDPI‘s North American stakeholders, strengthening relationships with Editorial Board Members and authors through conference participation, university visits, and in-person meetings. Over the past three years, she has represented MDPI at more than 20 academic conferences. Today, Karen leads a team of Regional Journal Relations Specialists focused on expanding MDPI’s presence and engagement within the North American research community.

Institutional Partnerships Manager

Ryan Siu joined MDPI in 2021 as an Assistant Editor, working primarily with the journal Molecules. Over the years, he has taken on several roles within the organization, gaining experience across editorial operations and stakeholder outreach. He currently serves as the Institutional Partnerships Manager for both North and South America. In this role, Ryan is responsible for managing and developing relationships with more than 150 institutional partners, including universities, research funders, and library consortia. Through MDPI’s Institutional Open Access Program (IOAP), he leads discussions around open access publishing models, negotiates agreements, and supports institutions in implementing sustainable workflows tailored to their needs.

Operating Director & Publisher

Elvis Wang joined in MDPI in 2009 and is currently a Publisher and the Operating Director of MDPI Canada. During his tenure at MDPI, he acted as the Managing Editor of Remote Sensing from 2010 to 2015 and launched new journals, including Land, IJGI, Drones, Fire, Hydrology, and Infrastructures, among others. He was appointed as Publisher in 2017 for flagship journals such as Remote Sensing and Sensors. With extensive experience in journal management and scientific publishing, he has dedicated his career to the promotion of open access and scientific exchange. As the Operating Director of MDPI Canada, he is in charge of the overall operations of the Toronto Office to expand MDPI’s visibility and portfolio and promote open access in North America.

Operations Manager

Summer Huggard received her Master’s degree in Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience from Memorial University of Newfoundland while building her professional career in business management. She joined MDPI as an Assistant Editor for Behavioral Sciences and currently serves as the Operations Manager of MDPI Canada. In this role, she oversees daily office operations and implements business strategies to expand and enhance MDPI’s market share in North America.

Author Services Section Leader

Mina Kalkatechi received a Master’s in Environmental Design in 2009, a PhD in Architecture in 2016, and an MA in Writing and Publishing in 2020. She joined MDPI as an English Editor in December 2020, and during her tenure, she gained valuable experience as a Freelance and Full-Time Trainer, Regular Edits Coordinator, and Group Leader. She has worked closely with the Learning and Development Department and the Quality Control Department, providing training and quality control assessments to ensure high-quality publishing standards. In her current role as a Section Leader, she is involved in the performance management of full-time English Editors, actively collaborating with Senior Managers and Group Leaders to ensure English Editors’ continued success and progression.
